Mini facelifts are less invasive than the full on surgical facelift, and leaves minimal scarring.
They have the same desired outcome of a tightened, more youthful looking face and is done under local anaesthetic.
However, in a mini facelift bio-compatible wires are threaded under the skin and tightened to lift the face and Botox is used on certain areas of the face.
Also, dermal fillers and hylaronic acid are injected to fill out the skin and give it a plump look, and skin rejuvenation injections are also applied.
A mini facelift’s effects will last around two to five years.
Who should consider Minifacelifting
You may be a good candidate for a Mini facelift if you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your lower face, especially with regard to the appearance of jowls, loss of muscle tone in the lower face, laxity of the lower cheeks and neck, and deepened facial creases extending along the nose and near the corners of the mouth.
Preparing for Minifacelifting
In preparing for your face lift or miniface-lift, you may be asked to temporarily avoid certain over-the-counter medications as your surgery date draws near. The surgery takes place under general anesthesia, requiring you to arrange for transportation to and from the surgical facility.
Recovering from Mini Facelift
Following a facelift, you can expect a few days of swelling and soreness which is well controlled with oral pain medications. Most sutures are typically removed between days 5 and 7. Makeup can be used at this point to camouflage any bruising or scars. Swelling and bruising generally subside by 7-10 days. You can resume most normal activities after a couple of days, except for intense exercise, which may be resumed at about 3 weeks. Most people are able to return to work with confidence in 10-14 days. Mini Facelift scars are usually not noticeable after enough time has passed for them to mature (see below). In any case, they are easily disguised in natural skin creases and by one’s hairstyle.
